Refreshed by God

Refreshed by God

John 6:35 says, "Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty."

For the past several weeks, SC has suffered a drought...yes we were without rain for almost a month solid.  No rain...not even a drop!  And the lack of rain for our very thirsty plants, crops and soil truly harmed our beautiful landscape.  Yes, even after much watering on our part, my yard started showing dead spots and plants began to wither.  Praise the Lord that He sent the rain (and abundantly might I add) which truly has quenched our thirsty ground.  And now everything looks refreshed and satisfied all around!
As I began to think about the plants responding to the rain, the Lord reminded me that He created us with this similar need for His rain daily in our hearts and minds for bare minimum survival in this world.  I don't know about you, but if I go days without spending time with Jesus in the Word and in prayer, I can tell a huge difference in my emotional state.  Anyone else relate?  I can easily become impatient, easily irritated, turn to ugly "old" habits of fear, anxiety and worry...and the like.  Yes, it's like being "hangry" in a spiritual sense.
Praise God that we don't have to wait for the rain to come like our plants do, as we have the promise of God's Holy Spirit with us always and can always experience the refreshing of His "rain" if we just turn to the Lord and seek Him!  Jesus said in John 6:35 that if we will just come to him, he will satisfy us.  It's just that simple.
So if you feel like you are experiencing a personal "drought" at the moment, just open up God's Word, spend time with the One who loves you the most and be refreshed by His amazing "rain" of love He will shower down on you!  And keep drinking deeply daily of His goodness!  Remember, just 5 minutes with Him every morning can change your life!

Ashley
