Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Yesterday, I had the priviledge of being the caddy for my son in his golf tournament. For a mom that doesn't know a whole lot about golf, I was honored to help my aspiring green jacket recipient out, even though I don't have a lot of golf tips and strategies to offer.
But what I could help him with was encouragement and a reminder that God was there to help in every way he needed. Yes, in golf, as in most sports, skill is important, but mental toughness is what truly sifts out the champions from the winners. When you mis-read a putt and make a mistake, or aim your feet the wrong way, or pull your head up and mis-hit the ball, those players that can easily recover positively in their mind are the ones who rise to the top.
The gift I offered to my son was a reminder that God was with him, and to have peace that no matter what each shot entailed. This reminder was renewing his mind and translating into strength in his mind or what the world calls "mental toughness."
And in the game of life, mental toughness is something highly sought after. As a follower of Jesus Christ, we have a secret weapon to help us attain this anytime, everytime. It is the fruit of a constant and close relationship with the Lord. Yes, you can be rock solid stable in your mind, will and emotions not from your own efforts, but from His.
Once you remember it's not you, but Jesus, and focus not on the "thing" but always relying on him to help you, there is no room for fear, doubt, worry, or disbelief in your mind. Yes, beloved sister, this is the secret to the divine strategy offered to us in Christ alone.
So renew that mind today, be brave as you go forward this day, and think positively and confidently believing ANYTHING is possible when you allow Jesus to help you.
