Reaping Good Things!
"A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:7b-9 NIV
My husband planted a field of sunflower seeds months ago to prepare for one of his favorite times of the year...dove hunting! Yesterday, on the way home from my son's golf tournament, we stopped by the field to check on it....and I was excited to see a field of big beautiful sunflowers! As I sat there enjoying the beauty of God's creation, and also admiring the hard work of planting a field, God reminded me of the truths from scripture....
The law of sowing and reaping says that we will reap what we sow. We always reap what we sow, but more importantly, we always reap more than we sow. My husband planted a field from tiny little sunflower seeds, and grew were very tall beautiful flowers!
If this is a good analogy of spiritual things, then let's think about what we are sowing today...thinking on good thoughts and truths from scripture produces peace, joy, and hope....acting in love and forgiveness also reaps a harvest of the same! Speaking words of life always blesses not only you, but others too! Acting in wisdom and patience verses emotions always leads to a better path...
Think on this lesson from the beautiful sunflowers and partner with Jesus to be planters of his ways and just wait to see the abundant joy, peace and life that will grow!!!
